Keep going Untrivrtd1 Yes sometimes sobriety can definitely be really tough. What I find helps me is remembering how sick I got from my lat relapse and how I never want to feel that way again. And then I try to think about all the ways my life is better, now that I'm sober. I find it does get easier with tine,

I'm sorry you're struggling. But keep right on going. I love the 1st ROCKY movie. I realized while watching it, fresh from initially quitting alcohol & struggling myself....That u gotta be like a fighter, to fight alcoholism off. Keep fighting it. It's really nice when you're sober for several years & u don't even want the crap, ever again. It really does end up controlling you, the deeper u sink into alcoholism. It rules your whole life. So then I remember Rocky, training & fighting hard. Have a successful day!

7 MONTHS! 213 days today! Once upon a time I relapsed after 7 months back in 2016. I figured it was long enough being sober so I celebrated with drinking. ☹️
That was then…After a few painful years later the withdrawals between binges took its toll. I finally had enough. Glad I didn’t exactly hit rock bottom but I knew I was eventually headed that way if I didn’t quit. By God’s grace he helped me get there. For those still struggling, don’t give up. You’ll eventually succeed. |

319 days. That’s 10-1/2 months. I’ve had many phases of recovery since day one. Thought once I got past the paws, the cravings, the emotional dry drunk thinking….It’s been the return of anxiety, depression, and other symptoms that keep trying to get me to throw in the towel and just drink.
I guess this is how it is…part of the healing process especially when brain chemistry is still trying to balance itself out. I read over and over again through numerous references, the brain neurotransmitters take time to heal and get back to pre-drinking normals. I’ll keep looking forward to that time when I won’t have any issues to occupy my mind and ruminate over. I’ve been there..…I believe I’ll get there again. ☹️ |

Congratulations on hitting 10 1/2 months. That's really awesome. I know it's hard but you're doing it. I don't know if this helps or not, but it was about a year when my brain started to feel like it was "normal" without alcohol, but everyone is different.
Keep it up, it does get better. splitimage |

Thats awesome @Introvrtd1! on 12/13 I will have 9 years. IME the first year was all about building a network and routine and not drinking. I used AA so that is a big part of my story. Do you have a psychiatrist?
