A wonderfull quote Raceka and congratulations on your progess in sobriety. When I'm tempted to offer help to someone I always examine my motives...Is it for them or me...because if it really was for them,,would it not be better to let them fall and learn then to hold them up?..Would the toddler ever walk if Mom and Dad held their hand and prevented their stumbles? Would the terrified but excited little girl ever experience the rush of speed upon her two wheeler if Dad would never remove the training wheels and "Let Go" while running along side her...?

It is so hard to watch those we love fall,,,but fall they must if they are to enjoy the freedom of independence...

The great Chinese analogy of the cocoon is so approprate for us caretakers...The fledgling butterfly must break the cocoon with it maturing wings,,for if we even make the tiniest cut along the side to help them,,,they are doomed to die without flight,,,for it is in the struggle to break the bonds of the perfectly formed cocoon that the strength to fly is born...

Such is it in our lives...

IMHO
