Hello,
Heres some information that I'll let you in on before I get to into detail. This is about four of my good friends who I think are out of control and they seem not to want any help with the situation. It all started out everyone partying and drinking until a huge fight broke out with some people and my friends, which ended up with two of my friends in jail and and the other guy has a broken jaw. One of my friends got out of jail but on the same day his grandfather died. The other friend of mine is still in jail. But now three of my four friends are constantly drinking and doing drugs and its not just the normal weed their doing. Their doing everything: pills, weed, coke, the workds and Im really scared but when I say something about it they get mad and tell me not work about it, they'll be fine and I want to beleive them I really do but I just cant. It scares me everyday,I mean they come and see me but its ridiculious and Im scared. I want to help them I just dont know how. |

LoosingControl, unfortunately if they are in the grips of alcohol and drugs, there may not be a lot you can do to help them. But, you can be there for them when they decide they have had enough of it. That means you staying clean and sober and taking care of yourself now. Yes, things can get scary and out of control when drugs and alcohol take over peoples lives. It is heart wrenching to watch those we love get hurt and especially when we know if they quit using they would not hurt as much. Hang in there and be strong. Be there for them when they are ready to stop using.

They don't sound like "friends"? I would hang out with another crowd until the "friends" realizes what they were doing?

What's important is trying to keep YOURSELF safe and clean and away from stuff. Also finding some other (clean) friends would be helpful. I'm not saying to "abandon" your friends, just to get a support system for yourself. Honestly though, people don't stop behaviours unless they're either cornered, or choose to stop by themselves. (Unfortunately) If you know they're doing illegal stuff, you could always report them to the police the next time ... and maybe eventually they'd find themselves in a treatment program where they could get clean and realize what they're doing to themselves.
