Recognizing that you have a problem and asking for help is a huge first step. Congratulations.
What's next? Well that depends on a lot of things. What you're on, how long you've been using, what kind of support you have IRL, and what kind of access to treatment you have. I'm a recovering alcoholic. It was a long journey for me to get sobriety. I needed rehab twice. Once was inpatient. Once was an intensive day program, where you went home every night. I also go to AA and find them incredibly helpful. Lots of people get clean without formal treatment, but other people need it. There's no right or wrong answer. A good place to start would be with talking with your family Dr. as they can discuss options with you and refer you to resources in your area. You can also look up AA or NA in the phone book - they have meetings pretty much everywhere. Good luck. Getting sober was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life but also the most rewarding. --splitimage |
