Hi guys, after trying for litterally years to get clean and using using using...(I'm a perscription dilaudud addict who shoots 40mg I.m. three times a day) I finally have some clean time under my belt from going to mica group at new york hospital! This group has moved me to tears...had my clean time taken away the other day for taking an extra risperidone during an anxiety attack and it brought tears to my eyes but truth be told these last few years all I did was shoot dilaudid and I hated it...hated knowing I was powerless and defensless to this addiction and that I would probably use till I died, and I hated that knowledge. I have tried aa and na and they just don't sit well with me. For me, I think I'm going to have success with mica oriented groups, that's what is working for me now, thank god! And when I graduate treatment I'm going to find an outside mica group run by a therapist. I think that, and getting back to work are going to be the two things that will help me to stay clean, not the self help groups. I don't know why, but I have tried aa and na over and over again thru the years and I don't know...they just don't work for me. I'm not going to give the reasons cause they don't matter, you know but the support from my mica group does! Aa mica groups on the outside are few and far between so I'm going to transition into a professionally run mica oriented form of group therapy and I think this will work for me. So far, in three months I have had no dirty urines! I never thought I would make it in treatment but I am and its everything to me...everything. So that works for me and that's the model I will find when I get out of treatment as well. Just giving my opinion, that's all.
Thanks,
Bob

Glad you found a program that works for you. It doesn't matter where we get help, everybody's different and what works for may not work for someone else. What's important is that it's working for you.

Congratulations. And keep it up.
