Thanks for all your support in my other post. Today was our first Sat. meeting and my first lunch without Janet (my friend who died) so it was really sad, but we all talked about how much we loved her and how positive she was so that felt good.

Now the nice part. Her memorial service was on Wed. I went and it was really beautiful and uplifting. There was a huge crowd, and I knew lots of people there which was good. But afterwards was the party she wanted thrown. I couldn't go to that - I had to get back to work.

But apparantly at the party there was this huge table of angel figurines. Janet collected angels. And she said in her will that she wanted the angels to be given away to her friends. There were something like close to 200 of them. Anyway - one of the women in my lunch group found one of an angel playing a harp, so she picked it up for me. She gave it to me at this mornings meeting. It's really sweet.

And it makes me feel happy knowing that I still have a little piece of Janet in my heart and memories and now I have something that I can look at and remember her too.

thanks for the update, splitimage. i'm glad you could go to the service. over the years i have lost friends who have died sober in AA. those services are so powerful cause there are so many recovering people there! what a wonderful tribute to your friend, janet, that all of you were there....her angel was watchiing over all of you i'm sure.
and the angel with harp you received gave me goose bumps..for real. it was so wonderful of your friend to bring you that. what a neat thing janet did in her will. i wish i dcould her known her. she was a very special inspiration to you all and to me too when i read your other post. thanks again for sharing.-jan
