Well, I found the church and sat in the car watching for a while. I saw 3 men standing out front smoking. So far, NOT appealing. Then I saw 3 or 4 more men, all smoking, drop their cigs and walk in. Still not appealing. I began to wonder if I had found Men Only meeting. Finally a lady with wild hair and leopard stretch pants appeared, so I said, yuppers, this is the place for me!

Anyhow, I did it. Phew. One meeting down. Are we there yet?????

Day 11 and counting!

Good grief Emmy - WELL DONE!!

The very thought of attending one of those meetings sends in me into a talespin of .... of ... well - a talespin.

I had been to 3 months of meetings a couple of years ago so I wasn't a total newbie. There are different types of meetings. This one happened to be a Step meeting which really isn't the right place to start, but it turned out fine. It was a good for me cuz the group is small. I selected that location cuz they have 3 meetings weekly and I don't need to get used to a new spot each time if I need to go on different nights, ya know? On Wed. they have a Women's group, so I'll prolly check that out.

A Step meeting means we read one of the chapters about one particular step outloud and then discuss it. This was step 8, about making amends for things done in the past during the boozing lifestyle. I haven't quite gotten to step 8 yet! But one guy mentioned how you can also do that throughout your day by apologizing when appropriate, and being responsible for your actions which fits in well for everyone.

An Lala, the leopard pants were WAY funky. On her they looked purrfect. (I did try to envision them on my tofubutt, but the idea almost brought on the heaves. )They came from a consignment shop. The lady weariing them was SO sweet and gave me her phone number.

I'm surprised that we have something like 6,700+ users on PsychCentral and sooooooo few post on this forum. Hmmm.... . Seems like there oughta be a LOT of people struggling with these issues here.

No meetings on weekends...at least none that I wanna attend enough! Still behaving. I'll go to a mtg Monday. I'm not totally "wedded" to AA, but I think utilizing the social supports offered at meetings is good for me.
