I had offered a coworker help which she is in need of. A few minutes later my supervisor began telling me how he wanted this to happen. I cannot tell you his exact words, because very quickly I stopped listening as I was reacting to a word or phrase or tone that I perceived was against me. I mumbled under my breath. He heard me and called me on it. Several minutes later he's confused and angry and I'm embarrassed and angry. He's left me alone, but I've really screwed up.

I'm glad it sounds like it worked out. You were on top of things, you shouldn't be getting yelled at for that. I hate the idea that "No good deed goes unpunished! " - it's so cynical.
Thanks for this!
