I went off of anti-depressants 3 months ago and feel great mentally, however have completely lost my appetite and have had a real hard time eating.....anything. I have lost a good amount of pounds since September, and can't make myself eat. I DO NOT think that I look fat, and in fact think I look gaunt and too thin. Could this be related to going off the meds?

This can, what meds are you on? I suffered from anorexia, not because I didn't like my body, cause I do, but because I simply had nausea all the time. Turns out it was from my Prozac and Zoloft.

You may just have to talk to your doc about that.

I had the same reaction with Prozac.....I ended up loosing so much weight because of the Prozac, then the Wellbutrin.....& because my pdoc really didn't know me & I didn't know myself, he stuck me into an eating disorders treatment center but I had no problem with body image. I knew I was too thin. The fact that I never wanted to get fat was what caused them to put me into the ED treatment center but that wasn't the whole picture they didn't bother to look at.
Also after going through a trauma 7 years ago, the stress (even not on meds) made my nausea so bad, I couldn't eat or drink. Dr's wanted me to go to a treatment center again....told them that they wouldn't treat what was really going on & that was helping me to process the trauma I had just gone through & was going through at the time. Definitely look into whether what you are experiencing is due to going off your meds of maybe some other meds you might be on. Don't let the weight loss take you to the point where mine did & I ended up in the medical hospital with a central line & IV nutrition.....in & out of the hospital for several months with that.....first time was worse.....I was still Dx'ed with anorexia because it was about the major amount of weight loss & how low it got....but that wasn't the Dx of anorexia nervosa......which is defined in the DSM & that has more criteria....body image being one of them & loosing having your period is another....along with a list of other issues

anorexia by itself is different from anorexia nervosa. Anorexia basically means you cannot eat, because you don't have an appetite, or have an adverse reaction to food (i.e., involuntary vomiting, stomach aches). Anorexia Nervosa on the other hand is a mental condition brought on by the misconceptions about your physical appearance or wanting to harm yourself with malnutrition.
