Is this place for people with ASPD or a place for people to come and talk about how horrible people with ASPD are? Im getting mixed signals from the posts on here and a lot of missconceptions and stereotyping going on.

Can anyone direct me to a place that I dont have to deal with this type of crap? Because in all honesty I dont think trying to get support and having people talk about how horrible you are because of a disorder you have is helpful. I think its pretty counterproductive. I have ASPD, I've learned to control my anger and have good relationships and I dont seek out to hurt people, but this forum has made me angrier and angrier since I started reading it.

I am not ASPD but I too find it anoying. This was ment to be a safe place for you to find support. I find it ironic that the group here at PC that gets "bullied" the most are the ASPD people. I am sorry for how you are being treated. It shouldn't be this way.

Its easy to have a go at people when not face to face....

I wonder often how brave others would feel if it was.

HI Sylar,

I am sorry you are feeling that way - this IS supposed to be a place for support for ASPD - as with any of the boards though you will find people come and post about their experiences with people with that diagnosis

I go to the ptsd and BDP boards and this happens a lot there - I guess the thing to try and do is not to take it personally and if you feel someone is being in-appropriate then report it - there is a report button on the bottom left of every post. Unfortunately disagreements happen on all the boards and that is what the report button is for.

People come here not only with the particular illness but to receive information and support from those here for their problems and i agree this is probably the wrong forum for that

Lastly if i have offended you with any of my replies then i apologise - sometimes we walk the tightrope between offering support to someone in pain instead of possibly re-directing them

be well

I have also learned that when I see some names I need to just keep scrolling down and skip their post. Most time it is just differences of opinion and I can't keep my mouth shut and behave myself otherwise. Other time it is because I find, for what ever reason (theirs or mine) that I tend to be hurt or upset by someones posts in general.

Hi Sylar,

This forum is for people who deal with antisocial personality disorder themselves, and not a place primarily to discuss dealing with someone who may have antisocial personality disorder. This should be considered a safe place to talk to other people dealing with antisocial personality disorder, as per our Community Guidelines.

If someone is looking for advice on how to help someone with antisocial personality disorder, we have the Caregivers Support forum, and the Relationships & Communication forum.
