Ok. So, ive been dealing with this for awhile. My whole life ive been very antisocial. Everything in my life is all about me. I dont care for other people. I am impulsively manipulative and controlling of others so I may get them to do my bidding. My life has always been a competition. I have to be the best at everything. I dont think I have a conscience. Ive read stuff online about the little voice in your head, but it doesn't make sense so i dont think i have one. I know i have narcissistic tendencies. I experience chronic boredom and pathological lying :P I dont feel guilt, remorse, shame, or empathy. My range of emotion is generally very small. I dont work. I could if i tried but i cant make myself. I live off of my partner. Ive never been able to keep long term goals. I never take responsibility for my actions AKA I never do anything wrong. Someone else did. And I have always had to observe others' emotions so I can learn how to blend in and not stand out. Am i a psychopath? I dont know if I trust my therapist yet to tell her about this but trying to figure out if i should bring it up. TIA

Malingering?

As for risks, there's a chance that, if you get the diagnosis, it goes on your record and could be used in court should it ever come to that. A therapist can be subpoenaed. Also, you could be forced into inpatient treatment for being a danger to yourself or others. It's rare, but I've heard of it happening. A buddy of mine nearly got committed for admitting to psychopathic behavior, but he was very violent. I think, if you don't admit to violent or suicidal tendencies and stick with the interpersonal/shallow affect crap, you should be fine. |

Whats the point of the label? I dont get it. Psychiatrists/psychologists diagnose people to help/cure them. In this case you would get only a label and why u want this ? I know you want to know more about yourself, but you already know, that you have more psychopatic traits than most of the ppl. I dont see a need to exactly measure this or get an approval from someone.
You are going to a therapy for PTSD and think you are psychopath? really ? |

You have to devote a lot of your time and money to get some stupid approval. I assume its a boring process and there might be some consequences of this.
If you enjoy talking about this, you can talk here (I like to read about this stuff). Just be the person you want to be and dont look for labels. If you think being a psychopath is benefical in some situations, then think about yourself as a psychopath in these situations. If you think being good, nice person is benefical in some situation then think about yourself as a good, nice person in these situations. Just be more flexible, be what is the best for you, what makes you feel good in certain situations etc. This my logic guys, thats it XD |

Try to imagine the worst things already happened and try to cope with it. Just try to accept the worst. Dont overthink, just let yourself be free and happy, if something bad will happen, you will cope with it and again you be happy. But believe me most of the time nothing bad will happen. Just dont care about some things as much as you used to, its not worthy. Focus to be happy despite anything and fuc.k these little things, if there will be a need, you will fix it. Now be HAPPY and careless. |

Bro she\he is not a psychopath.
I dont think a psychopath would worry about little things, be delusional and go to the therapy. I assume a psychopath would not even waste his time for a therapy. |

They are not known for going to therapy of their own volition, but psychology isn't such a precise science that one can say with certainty that a psychopath would never go to therapy willingly. I go, and I still think I'm a psychopath. True, primary psychopaths don't worry much about anything. But secondary psychopaths can be just as anxious as a normal person. |

-Psychopaths are prone to delusions of grandeur.
Athena Walker (she knows a lot about the research of psychopathy) wrote "Psychosis and delusions is not a feature of psychopathy as a different aspect of the brain is affected" pricehaylein said he\she has a schizophrenia and I guess his/her delusions has to be different and its more of them. An avarage psychopath doesnt have many delusions. They are usually are very rational and less emotional. -They are not known for going to therapy of their own volition, but psychology isn't such a precise science that one can say with certainty that a psychopath would never go to therapy willingly. I go, and I still think I'm a psychopath. Why u going to a therapy my friend? just curious -True, primary psychopaths don't worry much about anything. But secondary psychopaths can be just as anxious as a normal person. Yep but in addition to those things, I dont think he/she is a sociopath either. But its my opinion I can be wrong who knows. |

PTSD and psychopathy, however? Yeah, those two things don't mix, at least not with primary psychopaths. Quote:

I am not surprised, a typical psychopath doesnt learn as fast as normal person on mistakes. I think the higher on psychopathy scale, the higher chance you will end up in a prison or hurt yourself physically, because they dont consider dangers and consequences as ppl with less psychopathic traits. They are just like a stupid guys trying to satisfy their needs without caring about anything else and dont even learn on theirs mistakes. But someone with some psychopathic/sociopathic traits can be very intelligent and successful. I think everything is good in a moderation I hope it helped somewhat what I wrote ealier about accepting things. Let me know because I like feedback even if its bad. I personally don't like the word psychopath and I don't want to be labeled. I know what my tendencies are and I let them be. I'm not interested in seeing a mental health professional because I plan on becoming one so that puts me in quite a predicament.
