My Dad loves to find things that my sister and I haven't done perfectly and then rip into us about them. For a long time I've been doing really good, doing whats asked of me and more. But he always finds one thing: A car my sister and I share.
Saturday morning, he'll come barging in to whomevers room he choses and starts freaking out and going on a power trip about how the car that HE pays for needs to be taken care of clean (in actuality: the car IS clean) and how irresponsible and lazy we are, how we don't appreciate anything, and how we're slobs. It wouldn't be so bad if we weren't afraid he'd completely lose it and start destroying things (which is normal when he gets mad). Then the whole house gets to be on edge the rest of the weekend because of him, until we finally get the release of school and work to get away from him. I guess I'm just ranting here because now I'm uppidy and anxious, and I know I will be the rest of the weekend just constantly waiting and wondering if he's going to fly off the handle for any reason. I know it's stupid and petty, but...yea. Oh well.

thank you for sharing that with us. it made me give my 18 year old daughter a hug and tell her i love her. sometimes i harp on her about things, lately about the same thing with the car. (though i have to say the car is gross i found hamburgers from wendy's in the back window and about 10 differnt kinds of half drunken soda bottles on the floor) but it is her car we got for her and she has to drive in it. i wont be so hard on her about stupid little things. she is a great kid with high honors and a good head on her shoulders. im sorry you had to start your day off so badly. and thank you for sharing, i will try not to make the same mistake. and a big (((((((((((hug)))))))))) to you. lisa

Hi yesitsme,
You're talking my language! Although my father is dead (although not in my memory) I still have trigger times. Guess what? It's Christmas and holidays, the times we had to be with him and tip-toeing around the unexploded bomb. Your line about being glad to get back to school was horribly familar. One tip - In later life if you are lucky enough to marry or live with someone peaceful, just value it. Some people get caught up with other angry people for some weird reason, and relive the bad times. IMHO we have to be careful not to be caught again. Sorry it's so edgy for you just know. Good (peaceful) thoughts to you, Myzen |
