I get triggered easily when I read information online or hear about it on TV about various medical conditions and diseases.

I read the list of symptoms and then my mind races and I automatically think I have the disease or condition.

I know I shouldn't believe everything I read/see on the Internet but sometimes I just get so paranoid that my common sense doesn't kick in.

(((((((((((((((( Zen )))))))))))))))))))))))

Sending you lots of calming hugs
Have you tried limiting how much time that you are exposed to this kind of information? I had a similar problem for a while with news reports triggering me and for a little while I would change the channel if the news was even mentioned, you could try doing that when information comes on tv.

Hey Zen. I am the exact same way. If I hea of a diesese some where like on T.V. or read about it, I go wiki it and then freak out because some of my depression and anxiety symptoms match other symptoms.

It totally normal to feel that way. It like when when your your told something positive you seek into it and live up to it. If you can use that kind of control over your mind and remind yourself that its just feelings that cannot harm you when something negative is in your way , you should be able to notice the change if this doesnt help just practice it, it isn't easy, but with practice you will get better.

I sure can relate to you because I do the same thing like If I see a health scare on tv or computer then I think I have It too like I become really anxious and scared and start paniking , you are not crazy because Its normal to think you have something when you have the same symptoms as on tv or the computer.

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU GO FOR INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET. i have the same situation regarding my heart and cardio system as i have anxiety and a history of heart disease in my family. i don't worry about cancer as it isn't prevalent in my family so reports of cell phones causing cancer don't phase me BUT if they said cell phones caused heart disease i would overreact.
i have gone on the net to check a symptom ie a headache and some indigestion, and get a list of possibiities including brain tumors, mad cow disease, internal flesh eating bacteria and aliens infesting my body as well as maybe it's just the hot chilli sauce and msgat the chinese restaurant.
stay with websites like web md and good forums like this one.
