Does anyone else suffer from night time anxiety?
I am the only one awake in the house and I am starting to freak out... and I don't know why.
I don't know if I feel like something bad is about to happen or what. I just feel all... panicy.
My heart is racing, my hands are shaking, and I am sweating. Help???

I used to have anxiety at night because either I was at home alone or everyone else was asleep but now I take that time to be my sanctuary, my time. It's good to you hear from you though. We are here for you in whatever small way we can be.

Send me a pm anytime this happens. My insomnia doesnt help when this happens to me. Lock all your doors and windows and set an alarm if you have one. Just keep breathing slowly and remind yourself that you are safe in your own home. DONT PANIC! Try not to breathe too fast or you will hyperventilate. Boy, do i sound paranoid or what, lol? Anyway, hang in there and im here for ya if ya ever need to chat....especially at night(insomnia sux).

I experience that quite often. For me, I think it starts with feeling lonely. It feels better knowing someone else is there, available (awake), even if in the other room.

Just try taking deep, slow breaths. I know it's difficult, I haven't quite learned how to manage panic myself. Try to occupy your mind by reading or playing a game like solitaire or soduko.

Hope you feel better!

I also suffer from anxiety or panic attacks. My doc taught me to slowly inhale through my nose with my mouth closed, then exhale while holding my mouth open as if I were going to whistle. If you can master this, most all the time, the other symptoms will not happen, or at least will leave you as you control your breathing. Take Care. Hugs....

I have never really struggled with night time anxiety before.
But these last few nights have just been... Ugh... what is wrong with me?

This may not be too helpful, but I've felt all manner of inexplicable feelings when alone in various places. I try to remember it's not the room that has changed, but my perception of it, and I can usually overcome that kind of feeling.

Perhaps some of those night lights that plug into electrical sockets might assuage your anxiety?
