hi. i have problems with panic attacks and anxiety. i used to get just like full on panic attacks sometimes but lately i feel like i am in a state of constantly having a small panic attack. like feel kinda out of it and depressed and anxious and get these little waves where i feel like i'm gonna pass out. i also can't think straight but can still function and talk to people not like when i'm having a full on panic attack. i kinda feel like i'm going insane or something. does this happen to anyone else?

This happens to me all the time. I haven't figured out a way to get them to stop though.

sincity, Do you do breathing exercises? If you see a therapist you can ask them for techniques in controlling the attacks. There are also meds that help. The sites listed on the sticky thread are helpful.

how is panic disorder different from getting panic attacks?

I have try breathing techniques before but i can never do them right. when i start thinking about my breathing then i breathe heavier and start to get light headed and then the attack get worse

You have them constantly even if you aren't stressed about anything.

I do the same thing. They don't work for me either. Nothing has so far.

I am in the same boat with you. It seems that I am always having a panic attack. It is exhausting.

Oh my gosh do I know what your going thru, the first time I had one I felt like I was literally going to go insane..It was like I was fighting to hang onto my sanity. I have never had Therapy except for self-therapy, Cognitive Behavoural therapy does work where you talk your self out of it, if you see a T you were probably taught that..I also take a multi-vitamin and B-complex vitamins.

When I feel one coming on I feel like running ...so I walk it off..getting out into the fresh air..breathing thru your nose and tell myself your not going to go crazy, it's your hormones off balance ...your o.k..I still get them every now and than but for some reason the more I do CBT it's over quickly. I don't like to take pills but I was glad they do have meds for this ,I had to use them I was taking Ativan as needed and as I was learning how to control them I would not take Ativan when I had an attack but I hung onto them, as long as they were with me I was ok...they were my safety net. Now I don't need that safety net I have also taken up yoga...the relaxing part at first made me almost have an attack..I couldn't relax too much anxiety...but I pushed thru it and glad I did. You have to take care of your mind and be healthy, I think that is the key. I wish you the best of luck

yeah now that i know what they are and know that i'm not really dying and not really having a heart attack or something like that the big ones are not so bad. i do the same thing with antivan, just take it when i think i will need it or just knowing that i have it is enough. now its the small constant panic attacks that i can't deal with. it seem to go hand and hand with depression. i am very anxious and very depress at the same time. i feel like i weigh a million pounds. and randomly feel dizzy and very weak. it goes on for days and anitvan don't work for this that just put me to sleep

I have something similar. Do you see a T? Im in CBT to help me with my anxiety/panic amongst other things. I am very slow in T but this is helping me in some areas.

I take alprazolam to help me cope. Started on 1 tablet 3 times a day, now on 2 tabs 3 times a day and i can also just take whenever I feel an attack come on.

I feel I can be very sensitive to situations - things that may seem petty to normally healthy people can be VERY hard for me to deal with and cause either panic attacks or a real outburst when i feel i cannot cope

Pahasapa,
Have you told your doc that your meds aren't working?
How are you doing today?

Like you and others on this thread I'm always having little panic attacks. It's irratating.
Have you talked to your P. about getting on a anti - anxiety med? That might help.

i have. i've had a lot of problems with meds. they all seem to make me very tired or dizzy or both. i take lorazepam for when i think i'm gonna have a large full on panic attack but nothing seems to do anything for the smaller constant ones that come with the depression.

i seem to be out of the two week one i was having but now i am up and down again. a good morning/afternoon then bad night of anxiety and depression, or vice versa, or a good day then two bad days. there's just so much stress and worrying going on right and i can't even out.

Paha, everything you've written in this thread (minus the med stuff) is my life lately. Reading your thread has been sort of comforting. Nice to know you're not alone, ya know?
