I can't sleep tonight because I have exams tomorrow and I am really nervous... Today in keyboarding, I suddenly got really anxious. All the noise was bothering me and there was so much going on around me. My hands started shaking and I started having this feeling of dread in my stomach. I felt dizzy and sick so I had to put in my headphones just to drown out everything else. This happens often, but not always to this extent. It was just kinda random. And I know I am stressed... I have exams, I only have three days of high school left, college is coming up, concerts coming up, I've had all these auditions, parents put a lot of pressure on me, and everything kinda just makes me nervous and stressed.

I usually have my musical outlet to take the edge off, but all band seasons are over so I don't get to drum on anything, I tried out for something singing and I made it past the audition, but not the callback so I don't have that... we have our annual pops concert coming up, but chorus doesn't really reduce my stress it usually just makes it worse... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Really wish I could just yell right now but that is probably a bad idea since it's like 1:30...

And all this stuff could be causing my stress, but I have anxiety about everything, not just when I have a busy schedule. This stupid anxiety has kept me from a lot. This is including any relationship that I could have had in high school. Yes, I went on dates, but I never even kissed any of them because I freaked out and ended it.

I know I'm just ranting right now. I am just really stressed and don't have anyone to talk to right now. Everyone is asleep. Even if they were awake though I probably wouldn't talk to them about any of this stuff anyway. Just feels weird to pour out all my worries and craziness onto my friends or family. They pour their hearts out to me all the time, but I'm just not like that. :/

I hope by now you've made it through your exams and the worst is over. I think it's normal to stress and freak over exams nd the pressures our parents put on us. Im also glad that you were able to share those stresses with us even though you say you usually don't tell people those things. Hang in there, cuz there is a lot of support out there for you here.

good job! i feel like i once felt those feelings too. i hope that college will be a great experience for you! if you are really going to be a music therapist - way to go!! that is so cool. i have had friends who did that (i started college in the music program and knew others studying MT), and i have many co-workers who do music therapy now (i work at a music school). i think that is a really rewarding thing, i hope you enjoy it! and yes... college can be stressful, but i believe you will get through it and shine with your talent!

way to go! i'm glad you made it through high school. it is a really great and important accomplishment.

Please tell me what is a music therapist. I am a senior and have not heard of that occupation. I assume it may have something to do with helping people who are ill. By the way, I love your member name, BatsAndButterflies. I feel that's what my life has been like. But being a naturalist, I think bats have gotten a bad rap. They're just trying to survive like everyone else. I wish you lots of luck as you begin college life. You sound like a very responsible young adult.

Thank you very much. I love bats. They are very misunderstood.

A music therapist uses music to help people with certai mental disorders. If someone has a stroke in the left side of their brain, speech is damaged. The right side of their brain, that controls creativity, can still sing. And this can be used to help with commmunication. It can also help people with depression, autism, and a lot of other things. Something changes in the brain when music is present...
Thanks for this!
