Sometimes I do not feel so strong...like today. But I push forward. People often mistake this for scabes. These look like apple seeds and drink humam blood. Scabies burrow under the skin.

Of course I got a call from my atty. He is not sure that the apartments have sufficent insurance to pay out a settlement. This sucks. Called my old counselor who recommended I self treat. Right now I am exhausted and can barely think straight. I am just going to sleep as much as I can and go to the store tomorrow.

Sorry to hear of your extreme trials. It totally sucks to feel like you have no options and no one wants to help you. I'd just bug bomb it myself, and it sounds like that's what you're going to do. I think you did that at the last place too, didn't you?

You've been a good friend in my struggles and I hope you know that you're appreciated here on the site and by me in particular.

Hope you can finally get this resolved and get some peaceful sleep. I'd sure have insomnia if it were me. Those little things are ugly and scary. We had them at our apt in NY...some came in through the hallway of our building and under the door. We know this because we didn't buy any new or used furniture and the place had no bugs the first year we were there. And then I start getting these tracking marks on my chest. They apparently like female blood best because my partner didn't get any bites in the same bed. We washed the sheets over and over and put a vinegar mixture on the bed frame several times and eventually the few strays went away. We were lucky. An infestation has to be a huge ordeal to get rid of.

What floors me is that the apt manager of your buildings has it in his best interest to destroy the bugs wherever they appear. Why would he not want to help? The problem just gets more and more expensive and more people would move out rather than face such a traumatizing problem. He or she is a slumlord in my opinion.

Best wishes and big on getting a resolution as soon as possible. Thinking of you.

I bug bombed both places. It helpee a little. I spent a lot of money treating these things. My landlord will spray at my expense. That is $400 every time they spray. Yeah they are counting on me to home treat. If this wasn't low income housing, I think a pest control company would be out here already. I hate this place. I think I am just going to get a little job and move into VA housing. I am sick and broke and exhausted.

Success! Woke up to my apartment manager and the pest control guy at my door! They inspected and will be treating for the evil vampires next week! Do not feel so hopeless today! Will keep you posted!
Thanks for this!

Yeah! Got a prep sheet for next week. It involves removing all switch plates. Emptying all drawers, vacuume mattress, cut away mesh from box spring, wash and dry all clothes in hot water and high heat, pack clothes in sealed plastic. Well, I know what I am going to be doing this weekend. Tomorrow I go to the doc for something for the bites. Hopefully I will be bed bug free soon.

Yeah for being bed bug free! You have worked so hard on something that other people should have taken care of as part of their jobs. You are so strong!

Thanks! I can't wait to get a good nights sleep. I sure hope the pest control guys do a good job. I think I will try sleeping on the floor tomorrow night. I do feel like I am going slightly out of my mind from the itching and the sting I feel right before they start draining me of blood. I haven't even been on here much. Whatever created such a creature musta had a mean streak.

Yes I agree, it seems its a creature that should be used as a weapon...we should drop millions of them in terrorist strongholds...now that'd sort the buggas out

I think they would make a great bio weapon. They would not kill the bad guys but would slowly drive 70% of them mad (only 70% of people are allergic to them). Today I clean house and kill everything that moves. Got a little sleep. Feeling better today.
Thanks for this!

Glad you are feeling better. It is always nice to have hope for the future. So often we have none, but it's just waiting for us, right around the corner if we can stick it out. Kudos to you for your bravery and perseverance.

Wish we were closer so we could help. . . from a distance, don't want the critters ourselves

Are they doing adjoining apartments and stuff so they won't "come back"? Too, they can go months between meals, is the pest guy coming back to make sure they got the ones that bit you night before last?

"Sleeping in long-sleeved shirts and pants may decrease the amount of skin available to be bitten, and some studies suggest that using insect repellents containing DEET may prevent the insects from biting." I think I'd be slathered in mosquito spray, don't care how nasty it smells!

Wanting to sleep in a place without bed bugs isn't whiny.....its normal. That sounds pretty inhumane to me. What's up with that neighbor anyways?!

The only consolation I have for you is that at least bed bugs don't transmit disease. I'd call the cops on that neighbor and see what they find!

Actually, devised a form of bed bug therapy. They like to cuddle in my bed skirt, so I captured them in an empty psych med bottle (the plastic amber kind). I did this to show the management who's been busy in my bed and to tell them what they need to know and why these bugs are different than other bugs. The "therapy" idea came later when I relised I at least have control of the bugs in the bottle. So far that bottle has been shaken, put in the freezer for a few hour, thrown against the wall cussed at, screamed at and they are still crawling all over themselves. Washing the sheets and tossing my bed skirt so I should be able to sleep well tonight. I am taking them to see my gp tomorrow. Either she will freak or knowing her, might want a sample to pass around to her staff so they know what they look like. I tried the cover up method as suggested a while back...got a nice rash on the left side of my face for it. That's why these vampires are on the news. They become immune to pesticides very quickly. As far as DEET goes, it only lasts a few hours, that is about the time they come out...it worked for a while and I would just have to spray once and go back to bed, but the bites and the rashes feel like fire when I use spray. Best suggestion is to lather on vasline. It cuts down on the bites. I think this will get better with medicine and then extermination. As far as my neighbor goes, I was told by my therapist that I can call the police tip line or even 911 if I see activity and give details. I am suppose to live in safe and supportive housing. Hopefully they will catch more than one person. She sends the guy to get the stuff...will have to work on that. Maybe if all works out well, my caseworker will have to find a new line of work. She obviously does not know the meaning of "safe" housing. Or I can stay away from the drama.

ATTENTION TO ORDERS! Citation to accompany the award of the [whatever they should give out for fighting bedbugs, callous caseworkers and unscrupulous landlords - all of whom qualify as "enemies...domestic"] Medal to NuckingFutz. . . . Citizen NuckingFutz' extraordinary personal courage in the face not only of scurrilous insects of various kinds but also great personal infirmities reflects great credit upon herself, veterans in general, and [whatever your branch of service is/was].

Respect!

Bawhaha... I needed to laugh. I share stuff like this with you all. Last time I shared a Nucking issue with my mom her response was "how do you meet people like this?". But my sisters are safe to talk to. Hopefully after next weeks extermination, hopefully life gets less chaotic. Have a feeling my furniture will go bye-bye. My disability case is coming along. As soon as it does, I get better housing and back income from the time I applied so that goes for furniture. But still taking things one day at a time.

Personally, I would say roll out the napalm and nuke the suckers!!!!!!!!

Oh, okay, maybe that was a bit extreme but hey at least they would have to give you new housing if you tried it!

Yeah, I would get new housing...the kind with bars on it. I just spent about 20 minutes making sure I have no bed bugs anywhere on me because I am on the way to my doctor. Little do they know I have my now dead bottle of the nasty buggers (microwave). I am sharing a shuttle with 5 others who served proudly. And the driver is a retired airborne ranger. I get medicine though! More later, swapping military stories. I feel so at home with my military peers. Nothing like it.
