The fear of being stared at.

It effects my life so much.
Any ideas how to help me get over it?

I haven't heard of this term before but I can understand being uncomfortable with it. I used to hate being stared at when I was younger and still don't like it now. I wonder why some people stare instead of just looking quickly.

I don't know what would be the best way to cope. I wonder if desensitization would help - having someone stare at you, while you get used to it.

I'd say "hide" but that's not really a good idea (and I've been doing that for 6 years, it's no good). Desensitization doesn't sound like a bad idea, though you might just get to used to that person staring at you.

Let's make a wish
Easy one
That you are not the only one
And someone's there next to you holding your hand
Make a wish
You'll be fine
Nothing's gonna let you down
Someone's there next to you holding you
Along the paths you walk

I think another good thing you could do is, positive self talk. When someone stares at me, I get self conscious and start wondering why they're staring. It happened to me the other day, so I did a double take to the guy, hoping he would realize his staring. He was all alone looking at me with this big grin lol.

I am afraid of being stared at too. I have tardive diskinesia from taking certain drugs. It makes my muscles and whole body twitch. It is rather embarrassing.
I feel like I'm being stared at all the time. My sister has lyme disease and uses a wheelchair to get around. She tells me that people stare at her all the time.
She was at the store and using one of those electric scooters. Some old lady walks up to her and ask's if it is fun riding the scooter. My sister needs the scooter because she cannot walk good. Her hands and feet are all curled up in bunches. It makes it very difficult for her to walk
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the advice but really,I've tried it all.

I dont have a very good self outlook,so yeah,I do wonder why people look at me.

I grew up being the ugly ducklig and now Im suposingly something to actually look at and I dont like it.

I feel like people are plotting against me when they look at me.

I have a muscle disorder too. My doctor's wont diagnose it correctly though.

I twitch and shake and have muscle spasm's all the time.

You shouldnt feel bad about your self image though,if you do,nor should your sister,if she does.

Honestly,our defects make us stronger.

When I was seventeen,I got a tattoo on the back of my neck. Its a Marilyn Monroe quote and it says 'Imperfection is Beauty' and it helps me everyday.

People arent perfect and it makes us unique. Dont be ashamed of it. Embrace it
