Hi friends, I wish each of you wellness. I will be sleeping in my car for who knows how long since my time is up at the shelter I'm currently at. It's a 30 day shelter, and they have been gracious in allowing me to stay a few weeks past my out date. I am riddled with panic and fright. I cannot comprehend why they would kick me out knowing I have no where to go. I have been calling every morning to various shelters and they are all full. You see, the way it works is for every NEW resident they take in equals NEW funding they collect. They have already collected their share off of me, so as with anything that becomes useless, you throw it away, and that's me, trash, to be collected up by the forces of nature and bound to the code of street survival. Detroit is the worst place to be homeless. My caseworker at the shelter told me they probably have some openings in Detroit. But this particular part of town where the shelter is located is not a safe place to be. Not even the cops patrol that area unless they get a call! This is a dying city, dangerous, and corrupt to the core. Please pray for me friends, I hope a bed opens up somewhere nearby.

((Mrhomercat)) - this is a very difficult an scary situation and I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Do you collect welfare or disability? I'm surprised they wouldn't assist you in finding public housing. Do you have any family you could stay with? Can you go to another town? Here's a mental health website that may connect you with services. Stay safe cat.

I have no relatives nearby, I have requested help through the county and I am on the waiting list for housing. I have a food card, the state gives me $200 a month so at least I'm not starving. Thank you for the link, I am aware of the NAMI site and have visited several times, it's a very good resource.

I just typed in 'help for the homeless in Detroit' and many options came up. You may have tried some of these but I'm hoping there is something new you haven't tried.

Hello Homie,

I'm sorry you had to leave the shelter. I was hoping they would let you stay. It's so awful that they toss people out like that. That is a story that would look good on a current affair or something, homless people being used for funding rort.

I really hope you get a house. Would it make any difference if you called them now and told them that you are homeless again and there are no shelters left for you to go to? Please keep us updated homie, we want to know that you are ok. And please don't go to the dangerous area it's not worth it,

Rhiannon

I am sorry for your situation. Geesh and I was just ranting about my own while I sit comfortably in my home.

I pray you find safe housing soon and meanwhile that you are protected from harm while it becomes revealed to you.
Thanks for this!

Hello (((((Mrhomercat)))))! Very sorry to hear about your current situation. I lived in Michigan for 20 years in the burbs outside of Detroit, and worked at the RenCen in downtown Detroit for several years. I know the part of town your are talking about and it is a VERY dangerous place to be. Is there any way for you to get out of Detroit and go to Pontiac or one of the other outlying cities? They have shelters there and the area is not as dangerous as Detroit.

If you like, I will be happy to help you do some research since I am familiar with that entire area of Michigan, and perhaps we can come up with a better and safer solution for you. Please don't hesitate to PM me if you wish to discuss. Hang in there! Your Friend lynn09
