I wrote about this before but without the problem swallowing. But I feel like I have to contract my throat muscles. Kinda like when you have to pee and you squeeze those muscels. But it's my throat. If I don't, or I try to resist, I feel the urge to do it multiple times. I have done it so much, my throat muscels hurt. It has me stressed out. Sometimes, I have to do the same thing to my arm and calf muscels too. It's almost like an obsessive compulsion. My brother gave me one of his xanaxs. I just took half of it. If it helps, I guess I gotta get back on meds. Oh and I should mention, this started agan the other night when my step-dad was taken to the ER cause he was coughing up blood and was first diagnosed as having emphsyma and lung cancer but we found out last night it was just advanced emphsyma and lung damage from smoking and the fumes from being a car painter. So I guess I'm stressed out.

Can you get back in touch with him/her?
Or maybe go see a regular medical dr and they can refer you somewhere?

It is likely that it is caused by anxiety since it was after you saw what your step dad went through. Feeling as if choking is a sign of a panic attack which is similar to what you experience but not necessarily the same thing. You just end up focusing on your throat rather than, say, an external stimulus. Definitely talk to someone about it if you can.

Miracle-I'm going to mae an appt 1st thing Monday with pdoc

Lnn- yeah my thyroid was a little low but the thing is, the xanax helped me and I was also clearer headed without all the stuff going on in my thoughts and now that its wearing off its coming back so I think its anxiety. I hope it is anyway

Its just one of those things we do when we think about it. It's harder to forget about when your throat is sore. Feels like you have to do it. I had the same problem for a week or two, but never before the anxiety...

You probably don't have ms but what you are describing happens with my throat and I have to press it with my fingers to aid it. The low thyroid and the actual stricture is awful and it's impossible to control; I feel for you,
