Lately I've been having really bad anxiety because of changes coming up in my life. I had anxiety for awhile while I was looking for a job. When I landed a job it more or less went away. I had time to relax before the job actually started.
Now, my job is starting very soon. Next week I have training for it, and then the week after that (the week of Thanksgiving) my job starts. I'm nervous as heck and I don't know what to do about it. I know that the job is a good fit, and I'm going to get a lot out of it. It's my first year out of school...so my first time having a long-term full time job. I guess I'm just nervous about doing a good job...it's just going to be different stresses to get used to than the ones that I had when I was in school. |

Hi embracinglife. First off, congratulations on getting a job!!! And a job that is a good fit!! That's exciting!!
I have a lot of anxiety issues so I definitely know what an ordeal it can be dealing with an Anxiety Disorder. But in this situation I'm just thinking that it's actually pretty "normal" to feel nervous about starting a new challenge like this. If this is your first full-time job since leaving school then that is a big deal. I definitely don't mean to minimize your anxiety in any way though. Just, I know that in my case I sometimes forget that everyone feels anxious sometimes. Is the anxiety so bad that it's making you physically sick or preventing you from sleeping properly or making you cry a lot? Do you have a history of anxiety? Do you have a therapist who you could talk through some of these issues with? In any case, I really want to wish you well with your new job!! Let us know how you get on. Best of luck to you ((((((embracinglife)))))) ![]()

Thanks. I know that it is normal to be anxious about such big changes. I already take medicine to help me sleep, because I do have a lot of problems in this area...so I guess the current anxiety isn't making me unable to sleep which is good. Hopefully once I start my training this coming week the anxiety will start going down...or the anxiety will be less me worrying, and more putting things into action--which is better.

It's great your sleep is ok. Being up all night worrying is really awful

Yes, thanks. I do like to do yoga as well and work out. This usually helps with my anxiety. And actually after doing yoga and working out some yesterday I do feel a bit better. Thanks for the encouragement.
