Long time lurker, first time poster.
As anyone heard clomipramine (anafranil) being rx'ed for or have any insight on its usage for paranoia? My neuropsychiatrist added it to my daily "meal" of Cymbalta and Klonopin when I told him I was starting to have paranoid thoughts after being on the latter since August of '09. I've read that it is generally rx'ed for OCD and can increase paranoid thoughts in those who have been dx'ed with such. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

I know it is used to treat panic attacks. All medications must list possible side effects. Trust your doctor about your medications and let your doctor know if the medication is making things worse. I have been there and it sometimes takes time to find the right medication combo and dosage. I don't know if this has been any help, but feel free to ask questions.

I looked this up on the Medline and it said nothing about paranoia, but it did say that it could cause hallucinations. It did say that it is usually prescribed for OCD in patients. Also, it said not to use it with SRI uptake meds, like Prozac, but it didn't list Cymbalta. I'm not sure if that's considered an SRI uptake or not, but it probably is.
You'd better talk with your doctor about this if the paranoia persists. It isn't worth taking the meds for that ~ but do NOT stop taking the med cold-turkey!! Wait and talk to the doctor first! God bless. Hugs, Lee |
