I'm going back to my old T, just once, to ask her if she or someone she knows can prescribe me some xanax. I want the xanax for the moments of overwhelming anxiety where I feel like I'm about to burst. I used to cure those feelings by SI, but I haven't done it for 6 months. She doesn't know about the SI (dont plan on telling her) but I do want the xanax.

Do you think she'll go for it?

I don't know if she will be able to tell you of someone who will prescribe the xanax. It's worth a shot, though. Sometimes doctors don't like to prescribe some things because of the dependency risk of a drug. I'm not sure if xanax is one of them, though.

But many other people take xanax...would she think it's weird that I'm specifically asking for it?

I've asked for specific medications after researching them, and usually don't have a problem. My boyfriend said a psych might think it's "drug seeking" behavior, or something like that, but I don't think that's a problem, unless you've been drug-dependent before, or seem especially adamant that you get that drug in particular.

Oh no, I'm not drug-seeking, and I've never had a problem with it before. I just don't want to take a medication everyday to help something that only happens everyonce in a while. Hopefully she doesn't think I'm a drug addict! going to T

Thanks for the replies.
