You will know your sister and the twins, so you will already have a common bond with the people you don't know yet.

Holding on to the thought that you will be returning home afterwards, to the place that feels good to you, can help you get through. You can go and stay as long as you feel comfortable, feel free to leave when you need to.

It sounds fun! Good luck and let us know how the party goes.

In reality, you don't know how it will go. It could be the best time. The focus will be on 2 lively kids and I can't think of a happier or friendlier event

Could you take a camera and busy yourself with taking pictures of the birthday for your sister? If you don't have a camera, a store bought disposable one will do. Nice thing about that too is that most everyone smiles at the photographer when the camera is aimed their way - great opportunity to get lots of friendly smiles and laughs!

Could you excuse yourself to your bedroom, or a bedroom - arranged ahead of time - if you begin to feel panicky? Or, to the restroom where you can gather your thoughts and sit calmly and imagine yourself back home and let those comfortable feelings come over you.
Do you have medication you could take with you, if needed?

Could you accept that you might feel panicky, but since your sister's kids will only turn age 1 once, you don't want to miss that?
Thanks for this!
