The few times that I will go out, stores and what have you. Walking is my only moderate excersise /sp/, But as I reach the storefront that is when I hope it will be quick and painless.
Not the physical pain, just my wanting to seem friendly and less stand offish. But it pains me to know I have it in me to be carefree to some degree, I just choose ( ? ), not to?
What holds back the social phobe in the first place?

I understand what you are dealing with special effects. Today I refused to simply ask someone at a store to come to the floral section for a minute. I don't know why.

I think with social phobia there is always a self-confidence issue causing our fear of being judged or doing/saying something wrong.

Judgement issue yep. But I believe all say/or do something that (to each) seems wrong. I tell myself that most people are prolly exceptant. /sp/

I think it's the "wanting" and being afraid of that that gets me. I can go to stores and talk to clerks and buy stuff but I can't try on clothes; not because I'm physically shy in any way but because seeing the reality of my body and those clothes versus what I want and imagine when I pick out something to buy. . . it's just more than I can defend, trying something on and really liking it, seeing it fits well and being committed to it, what if then they won't let me buy it or comment on it and I have to defend my choice?

If I just pick out something I think is right, they can't know what I'm thinking and I can hide from myself so if it doesn't fit or I don't like it or it looks horrible when I get home, I just give it away next time the charity people ask for donations. I don't have to deal with my own desires or disappointments or other people's thoughts about me and what I'm doing.

I have found I find it much easier to go to the thrift store places, buy something on the cheap, wear it as if it were made for me.OOOOOOOOOOOOOrrrrrrrrrr , it becomes my work in the garden clothes. No trying on. Just buy it and go. Odds favorite is I will find something I like . LOL.

some times i can go shopping other times i find it hard to be out. i didnt pay my rent for wks r evn do food shoppn because i couldnt go out 2 the shops. to many people. i left the post office 1 dy without getting my money the line was soo big 2 many people i nearly died my head didnt feel right till i was nearly home
