I got a phone call on Friday about going to this place where I wanted to volunteer. I have to dress smartly but casual. I don't know if I have anything smart? I'm going to be worried when I go there. I don't know what to expect. The lady who is the supervisor on the phone told me, I have to wait for her to open the place up and she'll show me around. I have to be there about 10:30. Not bad. So I hope tomorrow goes well.

Please let us know how things went today! I hope all went well with you! New experiences can be a little scary to some of us, hang in there and keep pushing forward!!!

Update: Today went well. I was shy and the supervisor said I was shy. I helped out and I was near the till. I was the cashier. I had someone by my side helping me out. It was good but my confidence was a let down I had to say goodbye to the customers. I come back tomorrow too.
Thanks for this!

well done on your first day!! i began volunteer work some years ago when i was unemployed and depressed. I was scared too but i found it great! The people were so kind (volunteers are usually very giving, this includes you ) Your confidence WILL go up as time goes by, and try not to worry about the customers or any other strangers u meet...they probably won't even notice your anxiety. Good luck with this and i hope u enjoy yourself!!! You're out there, and your giving back to the community..wonderful!
