I am going through some major life changes, and I started getting anxiety and panic attacks. First I started getting sweaty palms, I started getting dizzy and lightheaded, and I started feeling really desperate like I wanted to scream. One day I was at work and I started feeling horrible, everything I described above but I also started having trouble breathing and I felt like I was going to go crazy. I wanted to cry but I was at work so I just clocked out and left without saying a word. I didn't care. On my way home I felt like I wanted to cry and scream but nothing would come out, and I still felt like I couldn't breathe.

My doctor gave me xanax and sleeping pills, but I had to stop taking the xanax because it would make me feel like I was floating and would make me really dizzy, I couldn't function. I wanted to know if any of you guys have experienced this and what you guys do to control it, I don't want to depend on medicine to feel better. I am really depressed and get a lot of anxiety, but the worst is when I start to feel like I can't breathe. Any advice?

Sometimes I'll put my hand up near my face so I can feel that I am breathing. Other times I think through breathing. In my head I'll go "air into nose. Air out of nose". And try to focus on feeling the air in your nose, notice that your stomach moves. I still find it hard to do this when my anxiety gets really high but I find practising when I'm calmer helps me remember what to do when I'm...not calm

Have you told your dr about the result of xanax? Perhaps a lower dose would work better for you.
