I started my symptoms last august. They seemed to nearly dissappear in December - then came back full force in January. I had not been on any meds at the time, just occasional xanax. The doctor put my on zoloft about three weeks ago for the anxiety. It seems to be helping, even in the short time I've been taking it. Meds like xanax and ativan, from what I understand, are only to be taken either as needed or on a short term basis (no more than 6 weeks). You may want to talk to your doctor about a longer term drug, like zoloft or lexapro. I was hesitant at first also, but I can't live with the tingling anymore.

Thanks Lavender and Gossamer: I saw my doc today. She is starting me on Effexor XR tomorrow on 1/2 of a 37.5 mg. capsule for 2 weeks. Because I'm so full of anxiety, she is concerned about my side effects so we are starting slowly. She is also weaning me off of the Ativan. I don't like how this drug makes me feel...I understand you become resistant to it and need more for it to be effective. I've never upped the dose and am now experiencing headaches and feel awful. I sure hope the Effexor agrees with me. The tingling is back in full force!

Strangely, the tingling/numbness is in my right lower leg, right arm and the right side of my face. I know, it sounds weird.

I think the pains I get in my head is from the Ativan I've been on. I never had pains like this before taking it. I was taking .5 mg. three times a day and my doctor has asked me to cut out the mid-day dose. Do I ever notice a difference. I can't wait until bedtime when I can take my next dose. That is TERRIBLE! I can't believe how fast you can become addicted to this drug. I sure hope the Effexor kicks in quickly and works for me.

I get tingling in my arms, back and left leg. Oddly enough, my right leg is fine. I will also get "electric shocks" through my body, especially when trying to fall asleep.
