I have a really busy weekend ahead and I'm nervous. I am actually losing sleep over this

Tomorrow I travel out of state to visit my parents. Then, I drive them 2 hours to visit my grandparents for the weekend (another state in New England)...and then I head back to my parent's house, and then hanging out with a friend on Sunday.

Challenges:
- Dealing with my parents for an extended period of time
- Traveling a total of 8 hours all weekend
- Keeping a positive attitude
- not having time to see boyfriend - we had plans for tommorrow night, but had to reschedule
- no down time for myself

Good:
- Get to see family
- Gorgeous weather on tap
- little mini vacation??

I'm particularly nervous because my family can be a big trigger for me, and spending THAT much time in the car, well...let's just say I'm stressing and it's not even here yet. My bf is being really supportive since this was a last minute trip.

Not quite sure what I can do to emotionally prepare for a very busy. I'm afraid it's going to be exhausting, but it's for family so it's something I have to do.

Hi doggiedo,
All you mentioned in the "challenges" are tall order if you are busy during your week days. May i know What particularly triggers you when you spending quality time with your parents.

Good question. To sum it up, my mom give me a lot of grief for not living closer, even though I'm only 45 min/1 hr away. My brother has kind of disowned the family, so I'm the only child in a sense - this comes up a lot. My mom talks a lot about how she misses my brother and how hurt she is by his actions. It's heartbreaking, and also very draining.

She also really, REALLY wants grandchildren, so there isn't a day that goes by that she doesn't mention how lucky her friends are that have kids, or asks if my b/f and I are moving in together or are talking about getting engaged - which would result in grandkids for her. It's sad really, but all of that pressure is a lot.

I'm dreading going...

I just want to go to bed and cry and I don't know why. Well, I do...I don't want to go.

It's such a nice day out and all I want to do is avoid the trip home. I wish I had something to calm me down....

I don't want to drive and/or go home all nervous like this. My parents will know something us up and it will just be weird.

Hi doggiedo,
Relax a bit. If you dont want to go home this weekend, its all about your decision. You may think about it little later when you feel comfortable.
