Ever since my anxiety (which I've had on some level my whole life) kicked into overdrive a few years ago, certain things come up that are very odd and hard to articulate.
Example, when I first started feeling slightly comfortable enough to walk outside of the house without thinking something horrific would happen, I'd take short walks around my block. Anytime I looked up at the sky I literally felt like it was too high, as if there was no "top" or "lid" to it. I quickly found myself, for the next couple of years, unable to look straight up to the sky at all. Even now sometimes, I'll do it and it feels weird. I told my dr about it and he said he'd never heard that, but a friend's wife said she experiences that too. This may be in accordance with that, but if I'm in a car, I have to have the visor down, even if it's at night---seeing that much of the sky ahead of me is overwhelming. But if I'm standing outside looking around it's not an issue.... ![]() The other big thing that I can't really define is sort of related to the former. Sometimes I'll be with my bf in a parking lot--often at night, when I'm worn out--and I feel like I'm about to be shot up into the air, like those toys you press down on a surface and they pop up. It is the strangest feeling. That has happened countless times. My boyfriend thinks if that sensation happened to him it would feel cool or neat (like space stuff), but it freaks me out. I've also had this happen sitting inside my house, feeling as if I'll rocket out of my chair and through the roof of the house. I know physically that's impossible, but my mind sure doesn't. Anyway, those are two things that I've never occurring with anyone who's anxious, and wondered if anyone here has had any of this? P.S.---Aside from pharmaceuticals, I've never done drugs. ![]() |

I think I get what you're saying. When I was a kid, I read a story about someone falling "up" into the sky. It scared the crap out of me. Still does a little bit. I wish I knew the name of the story so I could read it again now and try to get over it a bit better.

How interesting! That's a great way of putting it, actually.
