I just found out that I got a job tomorrow at an ice cream place. I am only 15 so it's my first job and I'm really scared about tomorrow. I have so many worries and questions and what if's going through my mind. I don't know how I am going to get through tonight and tomorrow. I am so scared. Honestly I don't even want the job but I was kinda forced by family and my therapist. I said i would go basically right when I get out of school and now I wish I didn't say I would do it so early. I just get so nervous that I just go with the first thing she says. I didn't even think about needing to do the cashier AND the ice cream. Im not good with money and what if someone wants it in a cone and i break the cone. Ugh I am so nervous and have so much anxiety.

Congrats and good luck! Even those of us, who have had more than one job in a lifetime, will say there's a bit of nervousness that comes along with any new place of employment.

Pay attention to the person training you, sure you'll learn how to not break a cone, and if you do, no biggie, probably wouldn't be the first cone broken there

Cash register training takes time, so perhaps that may or may not occur on your first shift, not sure, but just take your time, if you do.

One thing, about working in the service industry, is it's best to take each customer, one at a time, and don't fret about those behind. Before you know it, you'll find a rhythm/routine. Yes, there is a rhythm to the process. Oh, don't forget to smile (customers like smiling faces )

Best of Luck, can't wait to hear about it!!!
Thanks for this!

You'll do great! You'll get good with money. Soon you'll be able to make change in your sleep. If you break a cone toss it in the trash (or eat it) and pick up another. No big deal.

Thanks! I was so nervous the first couple hours before I went there but the guy showed me around and explained everything to me. Although it was a lot to take it.

congrats! sounds like it wasn't as bad as you thought... many times, the anticipatory anxiety is the worst part... good for you for going any way!

as a side note, im 16 and still never had a real job, so you are way ahead of the game!

I didn't have a job until I was 17, and I didn't do so well. Oh well LOL.

Glad it went well Was reminded of this thread, the other night, when I had gone for ice cream with my kids. There was a mishap with my order, but I just smiled. It really was OK. It was close in concept, the order making mistake.

I wanted a chocolate covered cherry blizzard, was handed a chocolate ice cream cone dipped in cherry flavored covering. Considering this thread, just awesomeness!!! Just awesome!! I did get what I had ordered, but just awesome!!!

Haha sounds like your ice cream was good even though they messed up your order. At least they fixed it.
