I have a fear of going to places and being out in public by myself. I always need someone with me.

Could this be agoraphobia?

It certainly can. I used to be like that & ALWAYS needed someone to be with me. Unfortuneately therapy was not enough for me so I had to take meds. I hope you are seeking help & please don`t give up as it can get very depressing. I`m there if you need. HUGS

Hmm -

Is this a feeling that is being resonated by being in public places or being around people..... I ask for I have the same fear, but after some time with my T on this matter I found out that it was the people that scared me more than the actual place did.

Good Luck....

I too have the fear of going to public places. The last time I went shopping, gosh it might be 2 years by now. Anyway, when I went to pay for the items I wanted my hands started to shake and all my money fell all over the counter and floor. I was shaking so bad could not even pick up the money on the floor. So I just left the store leaving the money and items behind. lol I am sure I was a sight to see. I do have panic attacks which is prob what I had. I am not sure if I am agoraphobia or just serious panic attacks. The fear of people is interesting. For me being alone in public places or with someone I still get consumed with that awful fear. Good and interesting thread.

I am fine if I am in an open space like a park where people are not around...love to take hikes in the woods...but if I see hikers coming...I get nervous...so yes it is must be the people to me...
