Yes. Kept trying. Read lots. Accepted we all make mistakes. Set boundaries. Realized no one judge has the right answer and there are many levels of social expectation and skill. Learned to laugh at myself. Learned to meditate, be receptive, and act friendly. It took decades. There is probably more precise information available to succeed faster.

I haven't. I'm trying the non touch self approach. Ive read a lot about that working.
Something about novelty and dopamine.
Any one had success with that?

Yes, I have. It took a lifetime to achieve. Lots of experiences, 2 kids, medication, and Jesus.

Yes, I have.
The biggest thing for me was to overcome the thoughts of judgement I thought people had about me.
BIG picture thinking is what I needed. In social situations, no ones eyes are solely on me, and this made me relax.
Biggest part is just to be YOU. Be unique. Be yourself. People will respect that, and you will admire yourself for doing so.
Thanks for this!

I had social anxiety as a part of generalized anxiety and depression that I was facing...I've overcome it to a great extent now. Like others before me have said, kept trying. Also, kept trying in small steps...don't aim for a huge change right away. I started off with small changes of making myself get out, talk a little to someone and then increase goals slowly.
Thanks for this!

I'm not all the way over it but I'm a lot better. A previous poster mentioned meditation. That's a great way to learn that you're basically ok. Then you'll be less preoccupied with whether or not you're being judged.

Did you guys judge yourself a lot? I feel like I judge myself and think I'm really gross or slow.. I don't know how to stop the self-judgemental thoughts it's like an automatic thing.

No i haven't. But my therapists have been crap or I have't had consistent therapy. I am also not motivated enough to get through it on my own.

I wish I could overcome my social anxiety but one of my problems is that I just don't have a darn thing to SAY to anyone.

Does anyone else have this problem? I sit there totally mute with nothing to talk about. Unless someone wants to talk about horses or Service Dogs I am out of topics...

Hmm, this is not what this thread is about...

I seem to be 'OK' with my social phobia when I am with my Service Dog groups. Maybe because we all have MI and we are all alike in many ways. And we talk about Service Dogs the whole time.

I'm the same way, I have absolutely nothing to say most of the time.

Yes, yes and yes !,, Not only do I not have anything to say to anyone, I dont see the point in idle conversation, in fact I dont really see the point of anything.
I go grocery shopping early in the morning so I dont have to talk to anyone and then I come straight home. I live by myself with my foster dogs..... I guess we're not alone.
