Hey shortandcute, it sounds like a scammer. I watched on the news about this. They call claiming to be lawyers for someone who has a case against you then they ask for a settlement out of court. I.dont know how you would stop them, seeing that they are usually overseas. But you.could mabye change your cell number? And dont let it upset you cause if there really was a case against you the lawyer wouldnt call, you would get a subpena or notice in the mail..... Huggs

First, tell them you have their phone number and you're reporting them to the CIA.
![]() Then put you number on the National "Do Not Call List" = I dont know if they will honor that or not, but all OTHER telemarketers are supposed to, and if they don't they get FINED big time. Just "google" 'Do Not Call List" and you'll find it. Best of luck & take care! Hugs, Lee ![]()

How can you tell they are calling you from a cell phone? If you have caller ID, just don't pick up the phone, and/or if they are robocalls or annoying, etc. you just hang up on them; I'm surprised you got far enough into it to hear they are from a law firm with a case against you, etc. if you know of no such thing. You have to be notified of such things by registered mail, it's like the Internet, no one is going to give you "news"/information in email and no one is going to do it by phone. Call your bank or credit card on the phone and see all the security processes you have to go through, even when they call you, to identify yourself and for them to know it is "you", etc. Some idiot calling a phone number does not a it's-about-you make. Tell them they have a wrong number and do not call this number again. Whether or not you can be on a do-not-call list, you can pursue them legally if they keep calling after you've warned them twice, have it in writing, etc. Or, just tell them, "Wait a sec, I want to record this call" and see how fast they hang up
![]() There's all sorts of spam out there, online and in-person: Virus phone scam being run from call centres in India | Technology | The Guardian Don't let it make you nervous; they don't care who you are, personally, they don't know who you are, they're just calling numbers "randomly". They don't know who you are or where you live and, besides, they're in India :-)

Hi, shortandcute. If it's your land-line you can probably use call block somehow. Also you can try go0gling the number and other users will post their dealings with these guys. I turn off my landline and only answer if I know the caller. I just type the number in my searchbar if I'm curious.

I have been getting weird calls also, they say something about some card Bill. I Just ignore it and if I do not Recognize the Number on the phone, I don't answer it.

I personally just ignore every incoming call I don't recognize....And if there really where some case against you, you would get papers hand delivered to you......
