I'm currently on 1200mg of Neurontin per day for anxiety and panic. Well I've been on it for 3 weeks and it does squat. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and they generally go with what I want, but here is my problem, I can't be prescribed a benzo. Let's just say I don't take them as prescribed.

I'm currently on these other meds.

300mg Wellbutrin
100mg Topamax
600mg Seroquel

I've been on Paxil before and it did work ok for anxiety and panic, but I'm 29 and I need my libido. Any other suggestions for a non-benzo anti-anxiety? My DR's appointment is at 3pm Eastern time USA, so I can check this on my phone. Hope someone can give me some options, I tried to do a search but all I found was neurontin and benzos. More than likely she'll try to up the neurontin but if I have another med in mind I might be able to switch it up.

Buspar has been used successfully for some for anxiety - not a benzo but it's indication is for anxiety.

I was on benzo three times daily and tapered myself to taking it only at bedtime. I now take magnesium (over the counter) in the day for anxiety. It works great for me - I wish I had known about it years ago.

The thing that has helped me the most is a support group (I go to CoDependents Anonymous) and in the past, therapy.

Keep seeking - that is key.

Yes - Buspar (or Buspirone as it's called on my bottle) seems to work nicely for me, and if you look at a lot of my posts, you'll see I am extremely difficult to please when it comes to medications. But that stuff works nicely and for me no real noticeable side effects....I THINK I might have been SLIGHTLY drowsy the first week or so I used it, but nothing an extra cup of coffee or two wouldn't solve.

Not sure if you've tried it before, but I find lamotrigine is good for my anxiety, among other things.

My CNRP ended up increasing my dosage of neurontin to 1800mg per day from 1200mg. She didn't want to increase anymore than that because I have a pending new psych eval next month.

well my anxiety is controlled ok now but with the soup of drugs they have me on it would be hard to even cry.

Seroquel 800 mg a day 400/200/200
abilify 30 mg a day
buspar 20/20/20 to 60 mg a day
viibryd 40 mg a day
depakote 1000 mg 500 2x a day
neurontin 900 a day
prazosin 2 mg at night

paxil stopped working after about 7 years and we tried everything til viibryd for an AD.
maois were useless
thorizine was useless as were all the other typical antiphsychotics
