put the pill in a small plastic food bag, make sure it is in the corner, bash it into a powder with a heavy bottle, rolling pin or whatever you have that works, then you can dose on a wet finger ful rather than half a whole tablet!

Hmm - my pdoc prescribes a specific dose of my meds, and that's what the pharmacy fills. Can't you ask your pdoc to simply prescribe a smaller dose? Like if you're currently getting a 1mg pill and then cutting it in half, why can't your doc just prescribe a 0.5 mg pill.

Now, there are some pills that simply don't come in small enough doses, so those might have to be halved. You could ask your pharmacy to cut them for you when they fill the prescription.

Why wouldn't your doc have control over the dosage? Was the pharmacy out of the prescribed dosage? I'm sorry this bothers you and I can't see any solution except to try to overcome that weird thing. Is it an OCD type thing?

According to Walgreens, Seroquel and Seroquel XR come in the following dosages:

SEROQUEL 25MG TABLETSSEROQUEL 100MG TABLETSSEROQUEL 200MG TABLETSSEROQUEL 300MG TABLETSSEROQUEL 50MG TABLETSSEROQUEL 400MG TABLETSSEROQUEL XR 200MG TABLETSSEROQUEL XR 300MG TABLETSSEROQUEL XR 400MG TABLETS SEROQUEL XR 50MG TABLETSSEROQUEL XR 150MG TABLETS

So, yes, a 50 mg tablet is available. You could have (30) 100 mg tablets and (30) 50 mg tablets prescribed to make 150 mg daily. However, my experience has been that insurance companies will treat this as two separate prescriptions and charge you a copay for each. That may be why the pharmacy is giving you the 200 mg pills so that you end up taking 1 1/2 pills each day for a 150 mg dose.

It's okay to cut the regular Seroquel in half. You can't split the XR, though. That messes up the extended-release function of the pill. Pill splitters are available at any drugstore, and they cost less than $10. The pill splitters are so handy and take the guesswork out of trying to cut pills exactly in half.

I don't know - but sometimes there is little choice because a medication dose not come in a low enough dose...
A good example is a fairly recent one with me - I was asked to give Paxil a try, but due to how sensitive I seem to be to side-effects so that general type of drug, he wanted to start with 5mg - but the smallest dose made is 10mg pills - but there is a score in the center...Even at half a pill - I had to stop due to bad effects....

If it isn't available in 150mg pills then I see the problem there They are actually saving you a bit of expense probably.
Is your doc planning to raise or lower the dosage? You'd hate the way I take my meds. I'm prescribed one 0.5mg tab of clonazepam which I break in half, take the half and then break the other half in two pieces and take one which puts me at roughly .375mg.
I also get 150mg effexor xr I open the capsule and only take ~1/3 of the grains. I ran with scissors as a child and haven't changed much
Good luck working this out.

So, you could ask your doc to write on the prescription form that he wants you to have 50 mg tablets, and the doc can prescribe a quantity suffucient for you to take 150 mg daily. Then, you could take 3 whole pills instead of one and a half. The pharmacy has to fill what is written on the prescription form. All your doc would have to do is write "Seroquel 50 mg - 3 pills x times per day."
