They're probably just trying to get a reaction out of you

It could be that they weren't even talking about you. I would try to forget about it. Okay?
Thanks for this!

They might have been trying to tell you to skip the burritos if you know what's good for you
It's really impossible to know w/o having been there. Try not to think the worst.

I don't know, but I wouldn't bother to even worry about it. most of the time anxiety just makes us freak out and may seem the worst, but in reality they probably were just talking about something else.

They could have felt like laughing but if it was at you it should not be taken personally because in reality they are not laughing at you but at life in general. They could have been stoned and hallucinating and buying tacos to satisfy the munchies and you looked like big bird at the time.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I can't remember anything similar happening to me but I can understand that it makes you feel awful. We can't know for sure what was going on with them and whether you were the reason why they laughed but surely it is not worth being upset about people like that. I hope you can move on and leave this bitter experience behind, because if they laugh at other people they are the ones who have a problem. If it happens again, I would try to irritate them by directly asking what was so funny and even laughing with them. I hope you feel better today.
Thanks for this!

I find that not giving a s*** about what other people think tends to make stuff like that easier to deal with.

I'm sorry you lost your hearing. That's such a huge adjustment. I'm hard of hearing myself and have been all my life. I don't know if you wear hearing aids, but rest assured that people really do not notice them. I wore hot pink aids with my hair in a ponytail for years, and people often didn't notice the aids. Really!

I know it's really anxiety-provoking to not be able to hear and understand people. That's why I really hate telephones. I never know if I'm going to be able to understand the person on the other end of the line.

How long have you been deaf, if you don't mind my asking?

LOL! I'm new here, and I can relate to that all too well as I used to get upset at stuff like that too. I still do times, but these days I tend to ignore most of them.

They don't know you, so unless they happen to be very immature, they probably weren't laughing at you. Remember, that people who do laugh at other people in public usually want to get a reaction from you. Ignore them and walk away if you can. If you can tell that people are laughing at you, then you can either give them a dirty look or flip them off- LOL!
