My husband is a teacher and I work at the school part time as well. Friday is the end of the year party for the teachers. He has informed me that he was asked to help grill. I am so full of anxiety. He will be busy so I need to socialize by myself. I know the people but that still does not help. I really can't drink since I am on 4 different meds. Just feeling anxious and having a hard time sleeping. Plus our 10 year old will be being watched by a neighbor. They r going out to eat. I worry about them driving and locking up the house. The neighbor is in her20' s and a friend so not like I don't know her. Hate these feelings.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I am having a lot of anxiety too. I am traveling and staying with a friend and I thought to myself what if I lost my wallet and get robbed and wont have no way home because I don't have ID. That thought kept popping up. When thoughts of anxiety pop up, I realize its an exercise in futility.
My therapist says dwelling on things that are out of our control and hasn't happened yet takes energy we give it when we could be concentrating on something else. Take a shower, listen to some music, keep posting on PC, it will get your mind off of things. As for the social anxiety, I'm glad you wont drink because even though that takes some of the pressure off it can also drain you and make you very tired. Just focus on one person if you can when youre there. Just relax and calm your mind. I know thats easier said than done, but agonizing over it isn't going to change anything, these things are already going to happen tomorrow. Good luck and plenty of hugs to you! ![]() ![]()

Social anxiety is tough. For me it's not even just the anxiety I feel being around people I don't know; it's how I sit there and judge myself for being a 'loser' because I am too timid to just jump in and join the conversation or activity. I hope it went okay for you.
