I'm posting this in the Anxiety/Panic/Phobia thread
in hopes of getting an answer or three ![]() When I'm asked to look for something and when that something isn't ready to hand, I start searching for it and tearing through possible places to find it (words like frantic or frenetic come to mind). During this time, I am unable to function in any other matter than carrying out the search. Is this a normal (inside the ballpark) experience? Does it suggest an anxiety attack? What else would have to take place for it to become a panic attack? I experience it pretty regularly when situations like this take place; does that have consequences for the term? Please help; I would be interested in learning more about this topic. |

For me, panic attacks, involve heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath.
Tearing apart a room, 'frantic', sounds like mania, but I am not sure. ![]() |

Do you feel a terrible (possibly even irrational, and you know it's irrational at the time) fear that if you don't find it, something really bad will happen? That could even be on the OCD spectrum, then. I would talk to a professional and/or check out the OCD thread.

I'm happy you chose to interpret it as hopeful. That is definitely a step in the right direction. I hope things get better for you soon.
