Greetings, my name is Mel. I am 25 years old. For about the past two months I have been taking Paxil 20mg and klonopin .25mg daily. As of late, most days it has worked and I'm really pleased with it. However, on days like today, my 'Sylvia Plath days'...I feel a bit sad and did undergo a panic attack after yet another failed job interview. Well, the interview went well I thought, but today I found out she chose to go with another applicant.
I'm also having some problems in my home area. My husband and I have been married for five years, our sex life is great, communication..not so much. There are periods that we seem only to tolerate one another. Although, I think he can tell that I am making an effort to make our marriage work, and I can tell that he is making an honest attempt as well. We have a 5 year old daughter together, and do not want her growing up in a broken home. We were both brought up in one. My main thought is this: why does my paxil/klonopin combo seem to work most days, and let my nerves shine through on some? I really need my nerves to stay chilled out. I'm an antsy, jittery, emotional mess when I can't keep myself under control. Is there anyone else out there that has a similar dilemma? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ![]() ![]() |

I don't take paxil but I do take Klonopin. I still have bads days at times. Not sure why it doesn't hold it consistant but some days I think my stress level is just higher than others and that that causes it. I understand how hard it is when we have bad days. I don't have any answers though but you are know alone.

I agree, on some days the anxiety might be too high for what you are taking. You could talk to your doctor about increasing the dosage of one or both meds or switching to another one. There are also other ways you could deal with the anxiety, e.g. behavioral therapy or practicing certain exercises like tai chi. It might take a while until you see any effect but maybe it would be worth a try.

Is there any connection to the jitters and how your marriage is going, in the moment?

I'm on a similar combo, but my dosages are higher.
Ask your doctor to increase your meds. I find 1mg of klonopin to be very helpful on my bad days. |

.25 seems like a very low dose. Your body also gets used to it and its effect will lessen over the long term. Check back in with your doc and see what they think. Also tai chi or breathing or other types of relaxation might help too. Music is good.
