I'm not sure, but I think I notice a few small differences.
I still experience bad anxiety, but that anxiety isn't as long lasting as it was before. I've also noticed I see myself in a better view when I look at myself in the mirror. Before this medicine, it would be a "draw of the cards", but now, I've consistently seen myself in a better view (like better looking). Also, before this medicine, I believed I had Body Dismorphoc Disorder, everyday I'd look in the mirror, something would change, and that has actually gone away or greatly decreased. So is the Paroxetine working and doing its job? Does it also help to cure BDD? I'm planning on going back to the dr to maybe triple my current dose, cause although its a great improvement, it's just not a HUGE improvement. I'm currently on 10 MG, so if I got the dose doubled or tripled, how much of an improvement would I see then? Should I tell request to be switched to a stronger, safer drug? I've read a lot of "horror" stories about Paroxetine which make me a tad worried. Also, the drug I'm taking doesn't say Paxil, but Paroxetine. Can I just say I take Paxil so it's shorter, isn't it the same thing? |

I've been taking Paxil for years and it does help. I've been on 60 mgs and found it made me feel worse at high doses. I decreased my dosage to 30 mgs and feel much better.
Sometimes, more isn't always better. I also take Klonpin for my anxiety, between the 2 meds and CBT I've been feeling better. Paroxetine is generic for Paxil, so basically it's the same med. I hope you continue to feel better! |

Like I think that would be great for me to have a drug that I can take in case my anxiety gets a bit too much to handle, that way I don't have to increase my mg for Paxil. That make sense? Like I'd like to ask my dr if I can get another anxiety drug I can take once in a while, basically Incase my anxiety gets too much, but I'd also like to ask him if he can increase my Paroxetine to maybe 30 mg or so (which would be tripling it). But I'd be worried I'd get the question "Why take two different anxiety medicines?" So how can I do this and ask my dr for this? This makes sense I hope? For example, I'd take Paroxetine everyday, then I'd take Xanax (or something like that) for "emergency" anxiety that won't go away. Does Paroxetine help treat BDD? |

I take Klonopin as needed. I suffer from severe panic attacks that the Paxil doesn't help. I've also been diagnosed with BDD and depression.
I started seeing progress when I started CBT, it has been a lifesaver for me. I've tried so many meds and Paxil seems to be the best one for me. I hope it contnues to work for you! |

So how should I ask my dr for both a higher dose of Paxil and another drug for anxiety that's on a as needed basis. Because I also get severe panic attacks. |

Talk to your doctor and tell him you are still having anxiety attacks while on Paxil.
He may increase your dosage and/or add a benzo. I happen to have a pdoc who is pro meds and has no problem changing up my meds to help me. I've been with the same pdoc for twenty years and he knows I don't abuse the meds he gives me. Don't be so quick to increase your dosage, more is not always better. IMO, adding a benzo may be more beneficial, then upping your paxil. I'm not a doctor and can only tell you about my experience. Be honest with doctor and be active in your treatment plan. Hope this helps! |
