I just wanted to say that I probably would have canceled my appointment at my university counseling center if it wasn't for the encouragement I got on here to stick through and go.

It was terrifying and I was shaking the entire time, but the counsellor was really nice and and said that they will do whatever they can to help me, even thhough my symptoms are so far along that I should probably be referred for more long term treatment. He said he thinks the social phobia is my main issue, and that the ocd symptoms probably stared as a way to deal with that, but we didn't get too deep into that. I declined being referred out so my parents don't find out, since I am on their insurance, but the counselor said that getting them on board will have to be one of my therapy goals. Not sure how I feel about that one yet. He seemed irritated when I said I didn't want to try medication. But he also mentioned working on short-term symptom management, which I am totally interested in.

Long story short, thanks to everyone on this forum for being so supportive, and I hope this turns out to have been a good decision.
