Ciao everyone,
I have always known that I had Depression, Anxiety and a sleeping issue. I have been to so many doctors who have diagnosed me as bipolar, ADHD and other names I never heard of. I find myself at night not able to sleep as my feet shake or kick while laying on my stomach. I am not sure what my brain is thinking about and sure why it wont shut down so I have to take medications. I have been using Klonopin for a long time with no complaints but it seems my body is no longer adapting to klonopin as well as before. I am also taking Lexapro and asked my doctor if he can raise my does to 30 mg or 40 mg since I have been taking 20 mg for the longest time. I guess what I am asking from the reader is if you can tell me another medication that is in the same class as klonopin that would work for sleeping. I have already tried Ativan, Ambien, Lunesta, Zipernam, trazadone and several other but these did drugs either knocked me out for 2-3 days even at a low dose or did not make me tired and Ambien / Lunesta caused major short term memory loss for me and was addictive as I kept having to increase the dosage. Any Suggestions would be a great sleeping medication that helps falling a sleep. I am able to go back to sleep if I wake up so it more getting to sleep, something that will help with shutting my brain down at night. Thanks in advance. |

I like Sonata because it doesn't make you drowsy the next day. It's a short acting sleeping pill, so you only have to be able to commit four hours to sleep after you take it. It worked great for me for falling asleep (which was my big problem) until I got dependent on it and it didn't work for me anymore. Best of luck finding something that works. I'm still looking myself.

It sounds like you may have either Restless Legs Syndrome, or Periodic Limb Movement disorder if your legs are keeping you from falling asleep. A sleep study would determine that.
I've got both, along with a good case of sleep apnea...and if that's not enough, I suffer from depression , post traumatic stress, and anxiety as well...the anxiety is worse at night because I'm afraid to go to sleep...that's when I have panic attacks about dying. |

Hello I was thinking the same thing as above you have restless leg disorder that may be keeping you from sleeping very well. You should see a medical Der about this problem there are medicaitons available for this at this time. A multivitamin is helpful as well, along with limiting the caffeine and cola intake after 3pm, and drinking more water. You may have an enzyme inbalance that is causing the restless legs, from not getting enough exercise or eating or drinking too much pop, or caffeine (coffee) and eating too late in the evening for the body to consume and burn off the calories before you go to bed. the American Diabetic Association has a hypoglycemia diet that may help as well to keep the overload off of your metabolic system, and help the restless legs and your sleeping and gine you more energy as well. you may ask your Dr about this diet as well. I really suggest you get to a dr soon, so that you can sleep comfortably again. Take care I hope things get better soon. Take care Soidhonia
