Happened at the movies last Thursday evening. It just hit me suddenly not long after the movie had started. I stuck it out. I ended up sleeping through most of the movie, and remember nothing about it. Today is Monday and I am still feeling off. I have always had anxiety, and am on meds for it. I have no idea where this attack came from. It was horrid as I'm sure you all know.
I am just wondering if a panic attack means the anxiety is maybe getting worse? I contacted my doctor, and she wants me to keep taking the meds I am on for the time being, and we wait to see how it goes. I don't know if I agree with that. The dose was just increased last week. |

What type of medication are you taking for your anxiety? If it is a "take as needed" the effects are nearly immediate but are short lasting, 6 hrs max, usually less. If it is on a regular schedule it is most likely a medication that builds up in your system over time. These generally take 3 or more weeks to hit therapeutic levels, so in that case waiting would make more sense.
It's possible you are getting worse, but sometimes something triggers panic attacks out of nowhere. With me, they increase when I am under a lot of stress and I can go several months, I've even gone years, without them when I'm not under as much stress. Hormones can also effect them.
