I have many problems in my life that my anxiety gets a hold of and make it explode into something even bigger than it should have been. Money issues, job issues, relationship issues etc etc. If i have nothing to worry about i am worried, if I have small worries they escalate into something enormous with out any real reason, outside of past history results in similar. I know I should face things head on but it is hard when past results show me getting my butt kicked. My anxiety is way out of control that even writing this post is hard because my mind goes in 10 different ways. I cant afford counseling or even know of anyone real close to talk to, and any one I talk to just says this will pass or hang tough a church person will say pray about it that sounds good but i never understand the results i get. I m tired of hanging tough and praying. My anxiety appears to be giving me a rash like deal doing on with my skin which adds to my problem.

I am game for any reading material out there to improve myself.

http://www.getselfhelp.co.uk is a good free self help website with cbt resources and free downloads. I know how debilitating anxiety can be I also find distracting myself when a wave of anxiety hits useful. It helps the smaller worries not turn into bigger ones. Never ruminate! ((Hugz)) oh and mindfulness is really helpful too I believe they have techniques on the above website also.

I agree with Verity81. Great advise. I ruminate really bad. I take medication with a conbination of mindfulness. Even the medication doesn't take it totally away so I have to use other techniques as well. I find relaxation tapes to help me at bedtime. They do work if you practice them.
