I suffer severe anxiety where I really do not want to leave my house. Its effecting my work and life and I just want it to stop I can't breathe, my hands are shaky, I can't sit still and I just can't seem to make it go away.. I have seen doctors, been on medication which I stopped because it was making me sleep too much, I have tried mindfulness, meditation, reading, listen to music, hypnosis and a lot of other things but it just won't go away...

I've had enough ..

Hi Alone15. Welcome to Psych Central. It's nice to have you. I know what severe anxiety is like. I like to take a hot bath when I feel the anxiety pinning me down.
Last night I didn't want to go to the movies, because of the crowds of stinky people.

One thing I know is you are not alone. There are a lot of people here that suffer the
same severe anxiety. If we all put our heads together, we may find some peace.

I know you said the meds were making you sleep too much. Did they help you though with the other symptoms?

I had suffered from anxiety in 2008 and thought I was going to have to quit my job (that I really enjoy). Doc put me on celexa and that seemed to help along with the lucinda basset program. Got back to work, everything has been fine, then ham. 2 months ago the anxiety is back. Now I'm talking medical leave as I can't function at work with this anxiety. Doc tapered me off celexa and now I am on zoloft. Been on it for 2 weeks, started at 25 mg, then 50, and tomorrow I start at 100 mg. anyone have a positive experience with zoloft? I have been praying that this medication will help with this horrible anxiety that has now taken over my life the past 2 months.
