Hi, I haven't been diagnosed with any form of Anxiety or anything like that. However, both me and my boyfriend suspect PTSD and so I am going to talk to my therapist or doctor about that when I get the chance.

Anyway, for the last 6 months, give or take, my hands have been shaking, almost constantly. I hold them out in front of me and they just shake. I can't fill in my college application form beause my hands are shaking so much and they make my handwriting horrendous.. that and beause my handwriting isn't neat and perfect, I have to print out another (6 pages) and re-write it all which is wasting paper and my printer ink.

I don't know what to do. It's getting on my nerves, so much, people keep saying I'm clumsy because I keep dropping things or spilling things and it's embarrasing handing my boyfriend something and having it just shake whilst it's in my hand. Typing is getting harder because my fingers seem to press the wrong keys, which then makes my writing novels and such a lot harder.

I put this in this forum because I've heard that shaky hands is common with anxiety but I didn't think it was constant, which is why I am asking - is it normal? Is there anything I can do to stop it?

Also, I've eaten and drank today and (though I have nightmares and restless sleep) I don't feel tired and I have been getting about 8 hours of sleep every night (granted it's been more like 3 because of waking up etc).

I wouldn't have thought it was my sleep however, because for the last 5 years I have had a very bad sleep routine (some nights not sleeping, others sleeping for 14 hours) so I presumed my body had gotten used to the oddness in my sleep. I know I still need sleep, but for the last 5 years my body has handled the effects of lack of sleep very well (i.e. it felt as though I didn't need it, wasn't tired, fuctioning properly).

What is causing this? I'm quite worried (and sorry for my babbling).

Hello Khione, welcome to Psych Central!

Well it could be anxiety but it could also be a sign of some other physical illness especially if you are dropping things too. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible.

Hi there

I've suffered from anxiety my whole life, and my hands shake 24-7 as well. I would double check with your doctor that it's not some kind of physical illness, but I believe it could be anxiety related. Good luck
