Yes,it is an overreaction to things and people,
in which we tense small muscles in temples/eyes.
Rub hands together till warm, then cup over eyes
for count of 20. Start to become aware of eyes,
temples, and purposely relax them through day.
One of ways I get it is with the COMPUTER,
so put following into search box: Workrave. Is little prog.
that pops up with appropriate breaks that you can set.

This is me talking as a Massage Therapist--you might have tense occipital muscles as well as other head/neck muscles. If you were to get a massage, ask the therapist to work on occipitals and neck! You can also apply heat to the base of your skull/top of neck. That might help your eyes relax a bit. Heat over your eyes like BLUEDOVE suggested could be beneficial, too.
