Hello,
My social worker wants me to be hospitalized because I don't have a psychiatrist and he wants to accelerate the proceed to receive help. But I am not in a crisis like I was these past weeks. If I choose to not be hospitalized, he said me that I could go into an outpatient program, but it would be longer to receive help. What should I do? I don't want to be hospitalized for the moment and I have difficulties to communicate with my social worker. Thanks and have a good night. perseverance11 |

I am not a danger for myself or others, so I don't think the hospital is the best solution for me for now. |

It is good that the hospital is an option should you need it at some point.

Maybe it could be, but not now in the moment.

you say you have been in a bad place these last few weeks but you are doing ok now. your social worker is looking at the overall picture, not at the moment. she wants to get you services right away, in case things go back downhill for you next week, not see you put on a waiting list for services god know when. if you go in the hospital, you will get services immediately and not go on the waiting list. I can see her point of view. I can also see yours. hospitalization can be a scary thing. I went in the hospital under similar circumstances. I was only kept two days because I really didn't need inpatient services. but after I got out, I had immediate access to services and meds which was great. so it is something to think about. how long will you have to wait for services otherwise? will your stable mood hold out that long? are you ok going without services until then? you always have the option of going inpatient if things get bad before your accepted for services so you can tell your social worker that. take care.

I don't know if my mood will hold on. I hope, but it is not guarantee. I have a social worker for now that helps me with my anxiety disorder, but I don't have any psychiatrist for now. |
