Hello all, well I'm finally making my first post after lurking on here for some time now looking for an answer to my issue. I have posted on other sites as well but no real answer yet to my problem. I have health anxiety like most of you here and so many of your post have put my mind at ease . However I have not found my exact answer yet and its driving my nuts! I seem to take this one step further and worry that all of my worrying about heart health and breathing health has been bad for me and I start to worry about worrying. Does anyone else ever do this?

This is what I do.. I will start to worry about my heart all day and then the next day start worrying that I damaged my heart by worrying about it the previous day because I got it racing and pounding just worrying about it all day. Then start worrying if other people do this.. ugh!! I am in a viscous cycle or loop. 2 months now. I hope this makes some sense to you all? Please help me if any of you have had this happen to you? Worrying that your anxiety or overthinking has caused damage to you is now at the forefront of my anxiety and has been like this for 2 months now. I just need to know that someone else out there does what I do. Worrying that your anxiety or overthinking has caused damage to you?
I just need to know that someone else out there does what I do.

First of all, Welcome to PC! Glad to have you here. I used to worry a lot, and I still do some. Stress from worrying can be hard on your health. That is why I have tried to stop worrying so much. There is nothing we can do about the past and the future hasn't got here yet, so all we have is this moment that we are right now living so no need to worry. It has been a bit hard to teach myself to live in the moment but it works to help keep me from worrying about past or future. Try and tell yourself to stay in the moment and see if it helps.

I do not know if the worrying can damage an organ. But worrying about the worry paralyzes me, so I do not move enough, and that is no good. I worry about the meds I take to calm the worry. Plus, I chain-smoke, so there! I cannot tell you how to stop or tame your anxiety, but you asked if anyone worried like you. I do. I'm still alive to worry another day.

Thank you all for the fast replies. I guess just one day I started to overthink my health one day and that started me down this health anxiety path. It's weird because I did not start out with worrying about worrying. It was like at the end of my health anxiety and then my mind went BAM..my mind started worrying that maybe I had done damage from all of the days worrying about my health that I've been through the last 2 months..

So then I started to analyze everything that I had previously gone through. So of course this got my heart pounding and then I started to think about that specific heart-pounding episode that I just had and then the loop starts all over again and every time I have an episode I start thinking if the previous episode might have caused damage. Its like my mind wants to always worry!

I know deep down it's all in my head but just needed to hear if someone else had gone through something like this?

Yes we all do the worry about worrying as well as the getting anxious about getting anxious! Are you in therapy? I found 'worry time' helpful where I actually worry on purpose for 20-30 mind at the same time every day. Afterwards plan a treat for yourself. I was surprised to find I was getting bored after a few weeks! Also it was nice to be able to save my worries for 'worry time'
